Approximately $51,000 in cash was stolen from an ATM in Middleborough, and police are looking for two suspects who broke into the machine and disabled the alarm before fleeing.
Police said the money was taken from a Harbor One ATM on Harding Street a little after 12 a.m today. Police were notified at about 7:30 a.m. that the cash machine had been burglarized.
The two male suspects in the theft, described as husky and wearing dark clothing, were familiar with how ATMs function, said Middleborough Police Detective Robert Lake.
“They entered through the rear, and once inside they were able to disable the alarms,” Lake said.
Middleborough police are investigating the theft with assistance from the FBI.
