A tractor-trailer rolled over into the breakdown lane of Interstate 93 in Methuen early this morning, rupturing one of the the truck’s gas tanks and injuring the driver, State Police said.
The truck flipped at 5:42 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway, a short distance south of the New Hampshire border. Gasoline leaked out of the ruptured tank, and environmental protection officials were called to clean up the spill. The truck was carrying non-hazardous items, State Police said.
The driver of the truck was treated by paramedics for minor injuries.
Officials removed truck debris from the road before rush hour, but did not begin removing the truck itself until around 9:30 a.m. No lanes were closed during rush hour this morning.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, State Police said.
