Vandals break into Brighton church, deface painting of a pope; clues include wine, Pringles and Tostitos left behind

Vandals broke into the Our Lady of Presentation Church building in Brighton last week, defacing an oil painting of a pope, destroying an organ, and scattering food and wine, Boston police said.

The suspects cut up the painting and wrote phrases such as “Devil’s Star,” “[Expletive] God,” and “Scooby Doo,” on it, police said.

The suspects left behind a half-empty bottle of Italian wine, a water bottle, a bottle of Sprite, a container of Pringles, and a bag of Tostito chips, police said.
