Lunenburg police search home where racist graffiti was found; new twist comes after football team was cleared

The investigation into who spray-painted a racial slur on the home of a local high school football player took another twist today as state and local police executed a search warrant at the house.

Police spent about 30 minutes this afternoon searching the home of Anthony J. Phillips, the father of 13-year-old Isaac Phillips, a former Lunenburg Blue Knights football player who reported being harassed by other members of the team.

The search was conducted a day after police said they had concluded the football team had not been involved in the graffiti and said they were investigating other suspects. That has spawned speculation throughout the town of nearly 10,000 people that the graffiti was a hoax.
