The Boston City Council has approved a hefty pay raise for the city’s police patrolmen that city officials say will cost $87 million over six years.
The measure passed on a 12-0 vote. Councilor at Large John R. Connolly, who said in October during his unsuccessful race for mayor that he opposed the award, was not present for the vote.
