Dorchester man allegedly solicited undercover officer for sex at South Station bus terminal

A 38-year-old Dorchester man who is a registered Level 3 sex offender was released on personal recognizance after his arraignment on a charge that he solicited a sex act in exchange for money from an undercover detective in South Station early this morning, authorities said.

Calvin Hardy was charged with solicitation of sex for a fee, MBTA Transit Police said. Hardy was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court today and was ordered to wear a GPS monitor, avoid all MBTA stations, and abide by a curfew until his next court date on Feb. 10, prosecutors said.

Hardy approached the female detective at about 3 a.m. in the bus terminal, Transit Police said.

Level 3 sex offenders are considered at high risk to offend again, according to the Executive Office of Public Safety.

Hardy was convicted of open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior in 2008 and 2005, the office said.
