A Waltham man died after crashing a car through a fence and into an apartment building on Route 2 in Cambridge late Friday night, State Police said.
At about 11:10 p.m., the Cambridge Fire Department was working to free the vehicle’s driver and sole occupant, Theodore Ohene-Addo, 40, who was trapped with serious injuries in the badly damaged 2005 Nissan Altima, State Police said in a statement.
Ohene-Addo was transported to Mount Auburn Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
State Police said initial reports indicate the vehicle was driven off the road and through a fence before it crashed into a building. The building’s address, 223 Concord Turnpike, is a newly constructed apartment complex within walking distance of the Alewife T Station According to its website, Vox on Two—the complex’s name—opened to residents in October.
The crash is under investigation, State Police said in the statement, adding that the cause of the accident is not nown.
