The body of a 43-year-old man was found by a construction worker this morning underneath the Boston side of the Longfellow Bridge, authorities said.
The body was discovered in the rafters under the bridge at about 11 a.m. Workers from JF White, the subcontractor working on the bridge reconstruction project, discovered the body, State Police spokesman David Procopio said.
The area is a known location for the homeless in Boston, and the man’s last known address was at a homeless shelter, officials said.
State Police detectives from Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office are investigating the death.
The body was removed by the Boston Fire Department.
There were no outward signs of trauma or foul play, but an autopsy will be conducted by the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.
The westbound side of Storrow Drive was closed for about two hours late this morning for investigative purposes, State Police said.
