Last winter, Carolyn Madison had shoulder replacement surgery. When the snow started falling, she found herself in a bit of a situation: She was unable to shovel.
She hunted around for someone to help her, realized she didn’t know many of her neighbors in Jamaica Plain, and she was stuck. Quite literally.

“I was amazed,” she said.
