A 10-year-old boy was critically injured when a tree fell on top of him in Easton this morning, authorities said.
The boy was playing on a zip line between two trees at a home on Shagbark Road when it became apparent one tree was giving way. The boy attempted to jump off the line and escape but was struck by the falling pine tree, Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter’s office said in a statement.
Emergency medical personnel were called shortly after 11 a.m. The boy was rushed to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, but has since been transferred to Children’s Hospital in Boston, Sutter’s office said.
The boy’s name was not released. No further information was released on his injuries.
“The incident is being treated as a tragic accident at this time,” Sutter’s office said.
