A worker at Logan International Airport was killed Monday night after being hit by a truck that was apparently traveling in reverse on the tarmac, officials said.
David Procopio, a State Police spokesman, said the initial investigation showed the man was on foot guiding the waste removal truck just before 7:20 p.m. when the vehicle hit him under a plane. He said troopers were interviewing the driver and witnesses Monday night.
Jake Wark, a spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley, identified the victim as a 59-year-old Melrose resident and the driver as a 47-year-old man. He did not release their names.
“At this stage, the fatality appears to be accidental,” Wark said in a statement. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
