The U.S. Coast Guard resumed its search today for a Marion man who went missing Tuesday afternoon. Dana Dourdeville, 21, disappeared after leaving his home to go duck hunting on his kayak, Fairhaven police said.
His mother went looking for him when he didn’t return by 7 p.m., and found his car parked at the West Island town beach. His 9-foot red kayak was discovered about three miles offshore between West Island and Falmouth at around 11 p.m. Tuesday by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Fairhaven police and the U.S. Coast Guard are currently conducting the search using a Cape Cod helicopter, a crew from station Woods Hole on a 45-foot response boat, and a crew from station Menemsha on a 47-foot life boat.
“We’re searching extensively and conducting a lot of search patterns,” said Petty Office Third Class Mybonghi Clegg. Catalina Gaitan can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow her on Twitter at @catalina_gaitan.
