Mayors across the region have a packed agenda for 2014 that includes revamping and replacing aging buildings; wooing developers; bolstering local schools; and promoting safer streets.
Among those looking ahead are three soon-to-be new mayors: Ken Gray of Amesbury and Daniel Rivera of Lawrence, both of whom unseated incumbents in November, and Michael P. Cahill of Beverly.
Gray said he will focus on economic growth and development, including supporting downtown merchants “and hoping that companies will look at Amesbury as a great place to locate.” His other priority is “improving the performance of the schools.”
“We are going to make Lawrence a safer city,” said Rivera, a city councilor. He also wants to attract businesses to create jobs, and to “change the overall perception of the City of Lawrence to a great place to live and work.” Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
