The federal Bureau of Indian Affairs has approved a compact between Massachusetts and the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe setting out financial agreements for a tribal casino in Taunton and advancing plans for one of the coveted casinos in the state.

“This is another important step toward growing jobs and opportunity in the Southeast region, and a good deal for both the Commonwealth and the Tribe,” Governor Deval Patrick said in a statement.
