Stow officials are making headway in improving the Lower Village commercial district, recently putting out a request for bids on drafting a traffic engineering plan for the area. The step follows years of delays in efforts to make the retail hub on Great Road more pedestrian friendly and less congested with traffic. Some officials have in the past suggested adding a rotary to ease congestion. The proposals are due by 1 p.m. Jan. 29; more details about the project, including the bidding packet, are posted on the town’s website, www.stow-ma.gov. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
