The Board of Selectmen and the town’s Community Path Advisory Committee are holding a forum Jan. 22 to discuss plans for a proposed recreational trail that would run through Belmont and connect to walking and biking paths in surrounding communities. Officials will present information about potential routes for the path as well as answer questions and gather feedback. A proposal to build the path on the defunct Massachusetts Central Railroad tracks has generated some debate. The rail bed runs alongside the MBTA’s Fitchburg/South Acton commuter rail trains, and some nearby residents have expressed concerns about safety and disruptions to their neighborhood. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Belmont Senior Center, 266 Beech St. For more information and to view maps, visit the advisory committee’s page at www.belmont-ma.gov.
