FALL RIVER -- The fiancee of Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriot accused of murder, will seek to have her related perjury charge dismissed, her lawyer said on Monday.
During a pretrial hearing for Shayanna Jenkins, 24, defense attorney Janice Bassil said she plans to file a dismissal motion but first must complete her review of the evidence that prosecutors have turned over. Bassil said “the facts are fairly sprawling” in the case.
William McCauley, the lead prosecutor, told Bristol Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh that the government has turned over most of its evidence to Bassil, with the possible exception of some video surveillance images that are being copied.
