Belmont’s 20th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast will take place on Jan. 20 in the Belmont High School cafeteria, at 221 Concord Ave. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the program runs from 9 to 11 a.m. The breakfast gathering, which celebrates the late civil rights leader’s legacy, values and ideals, is sponsored by the town’s Human Rights Commission, Belmont Against Racism, and several other organizations. State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz will present the keynote address. The breakfast serves as a fund-raiser for the local Metco program, which allows Boston students to attend suburban school districts. Admission to the community breakfast is $5, or $10 per family. Advance registration is encouraged, but not required, and can be arranged through the Human Rights Commission’s page on the municipal website, www.town.belmont.ma.us, or the Belmont Against Racism website, www.belmontagainstracism.org .
