Mayor seeks money for police chief search

Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone is asking to spend $50,000 in the search for a new police chief. The money would pay Waters Consulting Group to handle the search, travel expenses for candidates, and travel expenses for city officials to visit them. Charles Femino, formerly a police captain, has served as acting chief since Thomas Pasquarello resigned in November. Curtatone submitted the request to the Board of Aldermen on Jan. 9, and it is under review by the board’s finance committee.
