Milford Regional Medical Center has been awarded a $500,000 state grant to “promote health care affordability, quality, and efficiency.” The grant, announced earlier this month, is part of $10 million awarded to 28 community hospitals by the Health Policy Commission, according to an announcement on the state agency’s website. The grants, which range from $65,000 to $500,000, are in the first phase of the commission’s “community hospital acceleration, revitalization, and transformation investment program,” established in 2012 through legislation aimed at containing health care costs. Milford Regional will use the funds for a program to improve transmission of discharge summaries and medical records from the hospital or acute care facility to a rehabilitation facility or for home care.
