Local officials are asking residents to keep them informed about any noise problems caused by planes landing or taking off from Logan Airport. According to an announcement by the town, more flights from Logan pass over Belmont when the wind is blowing from the northwest, following a change last summer to runway flight patterns. State Senator William Brownsberger, Representatives Jonathan Hecht, John Lawn, and David Rogers, and Selectman Mark Paolillo, as the board’s chairman, have sent letters to the Federal Aviation Administration asking that the agency consider comments from residents when reviewing flight patterns. The town asked residents who are experiencing problems with noise to send letters to logancac@belmont-ma.gov with their name, address, and specific descriptions of how the flight patterns have affected the quality of life in Belmont. Residents can also call the Massachusetts Port Authority’s noise complaint line at 617-561-3333, or submit a complaint at www.massport.com; click on the Massport and the Environment link to find the online form.
