Greater Love Tabernacle Church to raise funds to pay off its debt

It’s a somber refrain. Wakes. Funerals. Grief. He’s there, ministering to families in mourning, wrapping his hands around their fears, and making his church a haven.

Now, the Dorchester minister who helps mend broken lives is leaning on the community to rescue his church.

Greater Love Tabernacle Church filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Dec. 10 to stave off foreclosure and get a cushion to restructure.

On Sunday, the community gathered inside in the pews. Joined by Mayor Martin J. Walsh, supporters helped the church kick off its fund-raising efforts.
