A small earthquake shook the earth near Franconia Notch State Park in New Hampshire early this morning, officials said.
The US Geological Survey recorded the 2.3-magnitude quake at 6:32 a.m. It was centered 1 mile south-southwest of Woodsville, which is off of Interstate 91 west of the park.
Police in nearby Haverhill, N.H., said they took many calls about the shake, but no injuries were reported. Firefighters in the town said they also fielded numerous calls.
“I live in a neighboring town and I didn’t feel anything,” said a Haverhill fire dispatcher.
