A good Samaritan pulled a woman from a car that had rolled over and caught fire early this morning in North Attleborough, a fire official said.
The woman, who has not been identified, was transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
“The woman sustained serious injuries, but we don’t know the specific extent,” said North Attleborough Fire Lieutenant Chris Coleman.
The bystander, who was not involved in the crash, was not injured.
Firefighters responded at 4:45 a.m. to the accident on Interstate 95 South.
“It was pretty involved with fire when we got there, and intensified when the gas tank ruptured,” Coleman said.
Firefighting foam was used in addition to water to extinguish the blaze. Firefighters from Mansfield provided assistance. Catalina Gaitan can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow her on Twitter at @catalina_gaitan.
