A man’s body was found in the Saugus River this morning, according to Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office.
The State Police’s dive team recovered the body from the river, located near Hamilton and Boston streets in Saugus, at about 10:40 a.m., said Carrie Kimball Monahan, a spokeswoman for the DA’s office.
Law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances of the death.
State and local police earlier had responded to the Saugus River area near the MBTA commuter rail tracks, searching for a missing person, State Police said.
