Child rape suspect captured in Colombia after two decades on the run; Richard Haugh, 71, was one of State Police ‘Most Wanted’

A 71-year-old man on the State Police’s Most Wanted Fugitives list was arrested today in Colombia for decades-old child rape and other charges, authorities said.

Richard Haugh fled in 1992 after being charged in Belmont with rape of a child and related charges, as well as federal fraud charges, State Police said in a statement.

After federal agents tracked Haugh in Colombia throughout 2013, local police arrested Haugh in a taxi as he apparently attempted to flee again, said State Police.
