Dorchester man arrested after shooting at Ruggles MBTA station

A 19-year-old Dorchester man was arrested Friday night and charged with shooting two men at the Ruggles MBTA station earlier in the evening, according to a statement from the MBTA police. Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police, and one of the victims was apparently not the intended target of the shooting.

Terrell Harris, was charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm, and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Roxbury District Court, according to police.

The shooting occurred at around 8:49 p.m. in the lower busway of Ruggles station. A 20-year-old man was shot in the hand and thigh area and fled out onto Tremont Street; a 34-year-old man was hit in the calf. Police said the 34-year-old did not know the other victim and was likely not the target of the shooting.

Both victims were taken to local hospitals. Terrell was arrested shortly after the shooting, police said.

Transit Police detectives are still investigating the shooting.
