WORCESTER — A Worcester man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a Worcester woman at the Auburn Mall Tuesday.
Vu Van Ngo, 27, was arraigned today in Worcester Central District Court in the death of Nhong Nguyen of Worcester, who was found under a car in the parking lot at the mall Tuesday. He was held without bail, without prejudice.
Ngo and Nguyen worked at the Worcester Envelope Co. in Auburn.
A prosecutor said a shell casing found at the scene matched a gun found in Ngo’s apartment.
According to the fire department, firefighters arriving at the mall parking lot about 4 p.m. Tuesday found an unconscious woman under a car. Ms. Nguyen was taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus in Worcester.
Trooper Dustin Fitch, a State Police spokesman, said State Police received a request about 4 p.m. for its crime scene unit to respond to the mall for what he would only describe as an ongoing incident. He said detectives from the Worcester district attorney’s office also went to the scene.
The mall’s general manager, Chris Bastien, put out the following statement:
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family and friends at this time. Auburn Mall is working closely with the Auburn Police Department in their investigation, and for further inquiry please contact the APD.”
