Four rail cars carrying automobiles derailed this afternoon in Gardner, but no one was injured, a fire official said.
Gardner Fire Lieutenant Mike Boris said the incident occurred shortly before 3:45 p.m. He said he did not know if any of the vehicles on the train were damaged, or where the workers were taken after the derailment.
The train was a Providence and Worcester Railroad Co. train, Boris said. He added that MBTA commuter trains do not use that track.
It was not immediately known what caused the derailment.
