An 80-year-old man is in serious condition after being pulled from a fire in his Jamaica Plain home Saturday morning, according to Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald.
Boston firefighters responded at 1:48 a.m. to a two-family home at 104 Bynner St. The injured man was found unconscious in his bedroom on the first floor when firefighters arrived, and three people residing in the second floor were safely evacuated, said MacDonald.
“The firefighters were able to rescue the man on the first-floor apartment,” MacDonald said. “He was unconscious and overcome with smoke.”
The man was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital by EMS, said MacDonald. A firefighter suffered an eye injury and was also transported to the hospital, but he has been released.
MacDonald said the fire was at the rear of the house. The cause is under investigation. Damages were an estimated $400,000, he said. Laura Gómez can be reached at email@example.com. Follow her on Twitter @Laura_GomezRod
