Concrete firm proposes new factory

Shorey Precast Concrete, which describes itself as the largest manufacturer of precast concrete products in southeastern Massachusetts, wants to build a factory in a commercial district at 334 Tremont St. The company recently filed development plans with the Planning Board, which will review the site plan and hold a public hearing on the proposal. Town Planner Jack Hunter said in an interview that the proposal appears to be “a good deal for the town.” Hunter said it would bring jobs to town and is a good use for the land. Based on Cape Cod, Shorey makes such things as precast tanks, concrete steps, bulkheads, and other residential and commercial products.
