Update:The Massachusetts Department of Transportation tweeted that the cement truck that rolled over on the Massachusetts Turnpike this afternoon has been cleared.
A cement truck rolled over in the Prudential Tunnel on the Massachusetts Turnpike eastbound at exit 22 this afternoon, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The Boston Globe reports that one person was injured in the crash. Cleanup of the crash site is expected to take 3 to 5 hours and drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes for the evening commute, state police said.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the I-93 northbound HOV lane will be open to all traffic due to the closure and cleanup efforts in Prudential Tunnel.
The crash appeared to have left a large hole in the tunnel’s wall.
