Malden City Councilor Steven Ultrino has decided to run for a seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, becoming the second Malden city councilor to announce plans to run for state office. Ultrino, 37, is director of education for the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and served on the city’s School Committee before being elected to the City Council to represent Ward 4 in 2011. A Democrat, Ultrino announced his plans to run against incumbent state Representative Christopher Fallon, a Democrat from Malden, in a statement last week. While Ultrino seeks a spot at the State House, fellow City Councilor David D’Arcangelo, a Republican, is running for secretary of state. D’Arcangelo announced his plans to run in February.
