Crews were seen in the early morning hours on Boylston Street laying down the ceremonial Boston Marathon finish line.

There are 27 days left to go until race day, and each year the finish line is typically put in place in advance. This year, however, the finish line will have special meaning for the many participants who will cross it. This year’s marathon will be the first since the bombings near the finish line that killed three people who were cheering runners on.

The Boston Athletic Association also plans to hang two banners near the finish line to honor those affected by the bombings.
