An explosion at a Tewksbury home Tuesday night caused a fire that sent three burn victims to area hospitals, authorities said.
The explosion and subsequent two-alarm fire occurred at around 9:20 p.m. at 22 Astle St., said Tewksbury police.
State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan said his office was called to assist with an “incident of some magnitude” at the house. The cause of the blast is under investigation, he said.
Tewksbury Fire Department and mutual aid ambulances from nearby areas responded to the scene.
Multiple medical flights carried the victims—two male and one female—to Boston hospitals, authorities said.
