Dick Molinari, an award-winning assignment editor who spent more than four decades at WHDH-TV in Dorchester and WCVB-TV in Needham, “had a tremendous sense of logistics,” said David Gwizdowski, a former WCVB producer who met Mr. Molinari in 1979. “It’s as if he had Google Glasses on and all the information was right in front of him. He moved faster than anyone in town.”

Joseph R. Molinari, 73, who was known as Dick, died Feb. 17. He had lived in Medford and Stoneham.

“He always taught about the value of news,” said Nancy Bent, a WCVB assignment editor who met Mr. Molinari when she was intern for him in 1981. “When a story would break, he could think of so many angles to cover it.”
