George F. Bennett was president and CEO of State Street Investment Corp. and served his alma mater, Harvard University, in a variety of posts for 25 years, including as treasurer.

He also was a founder of South Shore Baptist Church in Hingham, where he lived almost all his life, and said his success in the financial world was due to his faith.

“I believe in a personal God,” Mr. Bennett told the Globe in 1972. “Through prayer I can call on Him, and I expect to get help and guidance. Believe me, in this business you need it.”

Mr. Bennett, who was inducted into Hingham High School’s athletic hall of fame in 2011 at the age of 99, died March 15. He was 102.
