Globe staff members win national journalism awards

Boston Globe staff members were recognized with 20 National Headliner Awards this week, winning top marks — including seven first-place awards — in more categories than any other newspaper in the 80th annual contest honoring excellence in journalism. Globe photographer John Tlumacki won “Best in Show” for photography, while Globe videographer Darren Durlach was selected as “Best in Show” in the online category. Durlach also won first place, with the Globe staff placing in second, in the online videography division. Globe columnist Kevin Cullen earned first place for local interest column writing. It was his second time winning first place in this award. His previous win was in 2011, and last year, he was given second place.
