The search is officially on for a new developer in the planned Quincy Center revitalization, after city officials ousted Street-Works Development LLC for failing to make progress on the project.
On Monday, officials followed through on a promise to dissolve ties with Street-Works, a month after threatening to end the relationship if the developer did not move ahead with the $1.6 billion project.
“We no longer have a relationship with Street-Works under this program,” Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch said in a phone interview following the announcement. “If, down the road, we can sell to them again, I don’t know. But as of today . . . the contract is over, and we begin anew with a potential new party.”
