Eight years after Sudbury voters rejected a proposal for a new police station, they will have another chance to replace the outdated and cramped space on Route 20.

Voters will head to the polls tomorrow to vote on a Proposition 2½ debt exclusion to pay for a new 14,540-square-foot station that would be located at 77 Hudson Road next to the fire headquarters.

If voters OK the proposal, Town Meeting must approve the borrowing with a two-thirds vote on May 5 for it to take effect. Construction would cost about $7.2 million; residents have already approved $627,000 for the design.
