Jared Remy, son of Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy and the man being charged in the murder of Jennifer Martel, is now being accused of assaulting a fellow detainee at Middlesex Jail in Cambridge, according to a statement from the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office..

The 35-year-old is “charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon” in an attack that allegedly took place on Thursday.

The statement said that Remy has been isolated from other detainees and will be arraigned on the new charges on April 24 in Cambridge District Court.
