Massachusetts State Police has an app for that

The Massachusetts State Police would like a piece of real estate on your smartphone.

Starting later this week, an official Massachusetts State Police app will launch for iPhone and Android mobile phones, according to an announcement on the Massachusetts State Police Facebook page:

The Massachusetts State Police app has many great features, which we will highlight in a formal rollout later this week. Today, however, we will tell you that we have a function that no other law enforcement agency is using: Push Notifications with Geo-fencing. This will enable us to immediately notify you with real-time alerts that are geographically configured.

The Massachusetts State Police Twitter page has a picture of the app:

Among the app’s social features are links to the Massachusetts State Police Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages. The app also has a feed of the state police scanner.
