The Local Historic District Committee will bring proposals to create four local historic districts to representatives at Swampscott’s annual Town Meeting on May 5. The proposed districts include the Olmsted National Historic District at Monument Avenue and three smaller districts: The Fish House on Humphrey Street, a portion of Swampscott Cemetery near Essex Street, and the Railroad Depot on Burrill Street. The local historic district designation provides an area with protection from development and design guidelines for the area.
