Update 12 p.m.: The fatality in this morning’s fiery crash on the Zakim Bridge was a cab driver, WCVB reported.
The report said Malden Taxi confirmed one of their employees was killed, but the driver’s name has not been released.
A second lane has been opened on the northbound side of the bridge, easing some of the heavy traffic delays caused by the accident.
Update 9:15 a.m.: Massachusetts State Police tweeted that the far left lane on 93-N had been opened. The other three lanes remain closed as an investigation into Monday morning’s fatal crash continues.
Update 8:10 a.m.: Boston Fire Department confirmed that there was one fatality in the crash and that crews are working to recover the body.
Update at 7:52 a.m.: Fox 25’s Scott Tetreault tweeted that one person was killed in the crash and two were being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Update at 7:15 a.m.: The Boston Fire Department tweeted that the fire is now out and investigators are on the scene. The truck was carrying produce, according to the tweet.
Original Story: A truck fire on the Zakim Bridge caused major traffic delays Monday morning as crews were forced to close all northbound lanes.
Crews responded to the fire around 5:30 a.m., according to WCVB.
Several pictures showed smoke streaming off the bridge as firefighters worked to put out the blaze:
