A Harvard University student was assaulted on Monday, prompting the school to issue a safety warning to its students.
In a press release posted on Tuesday night, Harvard police said a female student had been pulled into an alley by a male suspect on Beacon Street in Somerville in the early morning hours of April 21. The report says the victim screamed, fought back, and was able to get away, but she did not see where her attacker ran and was unable to give a description to investigators.
The release also reminded members of the Harvard community to “take appropriate precuations,” “travel in groups” after dark, and “be vigilant while walking throughout campus.”
Somerville police are investigating the assault, and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the proper authorities.
