HANDOUT

A 59-year-old Sudbury, Massachusetts man crashed his plane into Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire on Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported.

Vadim Gayshan was rescued by state marine officials about 20 minutes after police received reports of the crash. According to the report, he was taken to a nearby hospital because of exposure to cold water. He was the only person on the plane.

Police told the Globe that the plane had pontoons meant for water landings and that Gaysham claimed one of them clipped the water when he flew too low, causing the plane to crash nose-first into the water.
