A Dorchester woman is under arrest after trying to punch a police officer, according to MBTA Transit Police.
Carmen Torres, 47, of Dorchester, was arrested and charged with assault on Thursday. According to Transit Police, Torres was on a Silver Line bus at Downtown Crossing when she punched a man in the chest. When officers arrived, they said Torres appeared intoxicated. As officers tried to ask her what happened, she got belligerent, according to police.
However Torres was not interested in discussing the matter and pulled her fist back and attempted to strike the officer in the face. The quick thinking officer moved and avoided being struck however her punch found it's way to the male victim's jaw.
After placing Torres into custody, officers found she had two outstanding warrants, including one for assaulting ambulance personnel, according to police.
