A North Andover man gruesomely tortured his two stepdaughters for five years, violently hitting them with hammers, threatening gang rape as punishment and pulling their tongues and toes with pliers, according to allegations detailed in court documents obtained by the Eagle Tribune.
Justin Ladd, 33, faces 21 criminal charges including indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14, open and gross lewdness, assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and intimidation of a witness.
He was held without bail during his arraignment at Lawrence District Court Wednesday.
The two victims, reportedly now aged 14 and 16, are in state custody.
The Tribune reports:
The girls told police that Ladd would make them exercise excessively, forcing them to do push ups and sit ups for as long as possible. When the exercise became too demanding and they would stop, Ladd hit them with a hammer, according to a police report by North Andover Officer Michael Reardon. ... The girls said Ladd hit them with belts and straps so hard they were often left with marks on their bodies and their friends at school noticed, according to the report. Angry after she cooked Shepherd's Pie wrong, the 14-year-old girl told police Ladd threw her at a wall and her head broke through the wall on one occasion. "After that, he threw her into the bathroom, causing her head to hit the bathtub. He then proceeded to hold her head underwater," according to Reardon's report.
The 14-year-old also reportedly told social workers Ladd repeatedly forced her dance for him in a sexual manner and exposed himself to the family.
Ladd is also allegedly a white supremacist with the words “white power” tattooed on his stomach, with numerous swastikas found spray-painted in the basement of his home.
He faces a dangerousness hearing May 6.
