Have you ever heard a swear slip past the radio censors?
If you’re like most media consumers, you’ll chuckle and move on. Others, however, take this stuff pretty seriously.
Freedom of Information Act journalists Muckrock News just released this collection of informal complaints filed with the Federal Communications Commission, detailing each one filed with the agency about Boston-area college radio stations since 2011, when records were last purged.
Harvard University’s WHRB, which broadcasts on 95.3 FM, received the most complaints, with three separate reports focusing on the station’s alleged airing of unedited hip-hop lyrics.
“I’ve never heard the F word this much on the radio,” one complainer observed.
