Nothing goes better together than Bill Cosby and college.
You might just think of him as the star of “The Cosby Show,” but the beloved comedian has a PhD in education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and has received honorary degrees from over a dozen colleges and universities, including Yale, Amherst and Berklee College of Music.
What you might not know is that the 76-year-old dropped out of high school at 19.
This Sunday, May 18, Cosby will add another feather to his cap, receiving an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at Boston University’s 141st Commencement.
We can only hope Cosby dons the signature gray sweat suit we saw him wear to a commencement speech at Carnegie Mellon University seven years ago, where he referred to the outgoing seniors as “nerds.”
The memorable CMU commencement speech was just one of 37 Cosby has given over the years, making him one of the most popular graduation speakers maybe ever.
So, if you happen to be in Boston this weekend and miss seeing Cosby’s devilish smirk, dry humor, and the Crocs he’s known to wear, head on over to BU’s Nickerson Field at 1 p.m.
